Thanks to all who helped with the running of the first fixture of the 2008 season. To set up all the equipment for even a locally-based league such as ours takes a lot of effort: if the organising clubs for the remaining 2008 rounds turn up as early and in such numbers as Stroud AC's workers did, the season should be a good one.

Ours may be a local league, but we are trying to bring in some of the features of the higher-level leagues. In particular, we are asking all meeting officials to "sign in" before the meeting:: the relevant forms will usually be in the Announcer's cabin. This is to help meet that much-dreaded threat to meetings of all standards: the possibility of an insurance claim against us.

There was apparently a near-accident in one of the Shot Putt events at the Round 4 fixture in 2007. Please note that any near-accident (not just an actual accident) is to be reported to the appropriate Referee (at any meeting, not just our League).
